Another tragic story involving a DUI wreck is emerging out of Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that an accident took place around 11:30 pm Tuesday night on the Kilpatrick Turnpike. That is where authorities say 65 year old Donna Rush of El Reno was driving westbound. At the same time, 34 year old Arthur Wesley Straehla, III was also driving westbound, behind Rush. As Straehla continued traveling westbound he eventually struck Rush’s vehicle from behind. Unfortunately, Rush suffered fatal injuries in the collision. Straehla did not suffer injuries.
The investigating Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper noted an odor of alcohol coming from Straehla. It is unclear at this time if authorities plan to pursue further charges against Straehla. The investigation remains ongoing.
Sadly, we are here reporting another Oklahoma DUI wreck with fatal consequences. Authorities across the state have engaged in efforts to stop drinking and driving, including targeted campaigns and roadblocks aimed at catching drunk drivers. However, the fact remains that some people still choose to drink and drive. They are willing to risk the consequences of their actions and place innocent lives in danger. Sadly, it appears as though Donna Rush was an innocent victim. Our thoughts go out to Ms. Rush’s family and loved ones.
