I was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School.  I obtained a B.A. in Letters and graduated with High Honors from the University of Oklahoma.  In 1990, I obtained my J.D. from the University of Oklahoma.

After graduating from law school, I worked briefly as a family lawyer, and then became a Public Defender in the General Appeals Division of the Appellate Public Defender’s Office (now the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System) where I handled over thirty (30) appeals per year for indigent criminal defendants.

In 1996, I went to work at the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals for the Orders Division where I handled Writs of Mandamus, Prohibition and Habeas Corpus, appellate motions, misdemeanor, State, and juvenile appeals.

In 1998, I left the Orders Division to serve as a Staff Attorney for the Honorable Charles Johnson of the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals, where for the next eight years, I handled all types of felony appeals, including capital murder and capital post-conviction.

Desiring to expand my practice beyond the realm of criminal law, I joined a securities litigation firm in 2007, and then in 2008, I became General Counsel for a small Oklahoma oil and gas company where I handled all types of legal matters relating to business in general, including managing complex litigation for a number of years.

In 2015, I joined my husband Kent in his practice – McGuire Law Firm – where we are mostly focused on insurance related legal disputes, but also handle all kinds of general civil matters.   I have also continued to occasionally handle criminal appellate matters.

Experience

I am a member of the Oklahoma Association for Justice and Oklahoma County Bar Association, and a volunteer attorney for Oklahoma Lawyers For Children.  Since 2005, I have served as Member of the Oklahoma Uniform Jury Instruction Committee (Criminal).
